You will need to have administrative privileges for the installation.
Outlook® (not Outlook® Express) must be installed on the laptop/PC. If not then the installation will not be possible.
This note applies only to MS Outlook® 98 and 2000 because these versions can be set up in different operating modes. The other versions of Outlook®, 97, 2002 and 2003, do not recognise this type of difference. The correct operating mode to support the Public SyncTool in these versions has already been definitively preset.
Under Outlook® 98/2000: Public SyncTool currently (April 2003 version) can be used only in the "Corporate or Workgroup " operating mode. To date we are not able to guarantee that it also will function free of errors in the Internet Mail Only mode (IMO).
You can review the installed mode in Outlook® under: Help (?) => Info
It will be displayed on the second line of the Info dialogue box.
For instructions on reconfiguring the operating mode please see Outlook® Help (e.g. keyword: "Change Email Configurations").
On the following website you can also find information, configuration help, what differences there are between the two modes IMO (Internet Mail Only) and CW (Corporate/Workgroup):
Public SyncTool uses the installed Outlook® profile to be able to access the contents.
Public SyncTool neither configures network connections nor creates Outlook® profiles. The Public SyncTool also does not create or open the PST files directly.
